SEE A LITTLE LIGHT: The Trail of Rage and Melody
BOB MOULD with Michael Azerrad
Advance praise for SEE A LITTLE LIGHT:
“Defiant, courageous, and funny; a disarmingly intimate look into the life-thus-far of someone who is without a doubt one of the most influential voices in all of rock and roll.”
--Colin Meloy, the Decemberists
“Bob Mould. Those two words are synonymous with integrity. From Husker Du in the last century to right at this moment, Bob is the real deal, writing and playing music for music’s sake. He’s a great songwriter and performer. I have been a fan of Bob’s for thirty years now with no end in sight.”
--Henry Rollins
Acclaimed musician, singer, composer, producer and DJ Bob Mould will publish his autobiography SEE A LITTLE LIGHT: The Trail of Rage and Melody on June 15 (Little, Brown; 978-0-316-04508-7; $24.99). The book, a remarkably candid, beautifully written account of Mould’s life, covers a tremendous amount of ground, from his early years in a rural farming community in Northern New York, life with an alcoholic parent, his own struggles with addiction and recovery, his long and varied career as a musician, and his long journey to self-acceptance and happiness as a gay man.
Since he first stormed onto the music scene in the late 1970s with Hüsker Dü, Mould has followed his muse along a more than three-decade long odyssey that has included a successful solo career, a three-year stint as the leader of indie-rock band Sugar, a foray into electronic/dance music that continues to this day as half of the DJ duo known as BLOWOFF, and even a brief sojourn into the world of professional wrestling.
A classic story of individualism and perseverance, SEE A LITTLE LIGHT is an inspiring account of one man’s driving force, which forever altered the shape of American music.
Mould has announced a series of live events to commemorate the book’s publication: “See A Little Light: An Evening of Reading and Music,” will feature readings interspersed with solo acoustic performances of music from throughout Mould’s career, and will include songs he recorded during his time with Hüsker Dü, Sugar, and as a solo artist.
Mould has also announced dates with BLOWOFF, the renowned DJ duo he founded with producer/remixer Rich Morel.
On June 21, Rykodisc will reissue Sugar’s seminal debut album, Copper Blue, on 180 Gram audiophile vinyl June 21, 2011.
In July, Mould will accompany the Foo Fighters to London, where he will DJ in front of an audience of 65,000 per night at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes.
More dates for “See A Little Light” and BLOWOFF will be announced shortly.
